The story of Kuna Balam tells of the intention to protect the birth of a little jaguar in the Mexican jungle on our family plantation. In order not to disrupt his birth, part of the plantation was closed. After his departure, we realized that ancient and special cocoa trees dotted this part of the plantation and we decided to create a chocolate celebrating this extraordinary event.
Their aromas with fruity and woody flavors awaken in us a feeling of protection and strength at the same time.

Only 27 cocoa trees were saved from the "Witches' broom", a disease which practically wiped out Brazilian cocoa in the 1980's. Stéphane Bonnat joined forces with the farmers of the Para region to bring this fine historical cocoa back to life.
